overhead reels
I want to buy a shimano tld20 2 speed but I have recently discovered the Gillmaster BGR30W 2Speed but I am not familiar with this reel. If anyone can supply information regarding the Gillmaster and how it compares to the Shimano I would be very appreciative.

Dont know much about the gillmeister range of reels but when it comes to tackle i believe you should stick with gear that has a proven track record. Go with the shimano mate you wont be dissapointed.

I would have to agree with the comments from above...check the warranty with gillmaster...bet it is no where near Shimano`s...

i have tld 20 single speed, great reel for the price and the drag handles a lot of pressure, leave it to your mates to test the lesser known brands

m8 ive brought a few gilmaster reels and they now sit under a pile of dust and old hand me downs after being used once ,stick with the known brands and save yourself some cash .

I've since learnt from someone in WA that they are not a very reliable reel. He posed a new choice to the TLD20 and that is the Sealine LD-50H. I have priced both at the same price. Any thoughts anyone

Good reels one of my mates has a 30 2speed sealine then i think it comes down to the daiwa shimano thing both are good reels cheers
I have HEARD that the LD-50H is just a copy of the TLD-20 but not as good. The drag surface is not a big as for the Shimano. I do not own a Daiwa LD-50, although I had a friend who did buy a Daiwa lever drag overhead and regretted it. I do own both the TLD-15 and TLD-20. Both very nice reels, tough and reliable. Do my own servicing no problems.
The TLD-20 can be bought from around $150 on sale. They represent very good value for money and are tough and reliable and will not let you down for their intended applications - light game and reef fishing with 20-30 lb line.

For the price go the TLD, IMO.
