    Outrigger Help Needed

I've got a 20ft Half Cabin and im looking to troll lures for tuna, marlin ect. Can anybody please tell me if there is any other way of doing this instead of outriggers? Has anybody made something similar to an outrigger? Any help would be great as im not looking to spend alot of money on outriggers as im only starting out and am only looking to troll 2 lures

if you only want to use 2 lures than just use rod holders

You can still run three lures easy without outriggers

A boat I know that does a bit of trolling trolls 4 rods, a witchdoctor and a teaser all from standard rod holders and cleats.

2 in rod holders (hoping they angle outward)
1 runner straight back (hoping there is another rod holder), tie this one down with a rubber band)
1 out of the rod holders on the binimi bar (small lure run out a long way)
I think thats how I would try and set a small spread covering a few options
    cheers

    Mike,
You don't need outriggers to catch Tuna Marlin etc.
Simple old rod holders will do the job as stated earlier.

For a real cheap set of outriggers, I have seen Bamboo poles with clips on the end work satisfactorily. They sprung back fast though when released by a strike.

Thanks for all the advice. i actully meant i wanna run 2 lures out wide on outriggers as well as 2 out of rod holders.

Is there anyway of making something up to use like using surf rods or something similiar?

Any pics or advice on this would be great

I cant see any reason why you cant use surf rods with gimble bases in your rod holders just add the hardware needed

    Re: Outrigger Help Needed

A surf rod with bent gimble is great to use.
Mine are a two piece 14' surf rod where the top slides into the bottom bit and then a bent gimble on the bottom.
That reminds me I have to fix them
I intend on living for-ever....so far so good
