    Which reel would you use??

I have just finished building a 6-8 kg ,7 foot offshore graphite rod which I am intending to use for floatlining for snapper and hopefully using with soft pastics offshore for snapper in the near future.

What I want to know is can anybody recommend a suitable reel in the 4000/4500 size (apart from the shimano 4500 baitrunner which is at the top of the list at the moment.)

I am looking at a good value for money reel that can still take a bit of hurt off a decent fish.

    Anyone have any good suggestions?.

    Cheers

I have a Daiwa Caldia Kix 4000 or a TD Tierra 4000 reels, both are fitted to 6-8kg rods, they are around the $220-$280 mark each. Also consider Shimano Sustain, Stradic or Symetre.

Are 30 fishing rods too many????

If you are floatlining stick with the baitrunner, if you are using SP's I'd go for a Twinpower 4000 or any of the reel's above.

depends on how much ya wanna spend. if the baitrunner is at the top of ya list price wise go for the daiwa excellor or up it a bit and go the tierra. but for floating baits you cant go past the 4500 baitrunner for that stick

Before you spend your hard-earned, have a look at the Penn Slammer Liveliner 4600. Heavy duty, American made, and the best drag on the market. The drag alone makes the Shimano's and Diawa's look very second hand.

bushbeachboy !!! ..... You've got to be kidding with your statement ! .... A Penn would not come close to a Shimano .... Let alone a Daiwa ...in spin reel configeration
....... For snapper fishing .... The Shimano baitrunner is tops! (the baitrunner feature is great for fishing floaters .) ..... Then beyond that both Shimano & Daiwa make traditional spin reels that will more than suitable! ..... Then if you're willing to spend the bucks .... a Daiwa Certate will last a life time... & pull stumps too boot ... ! .... Nagg

The Shimano baitrunner 4500 is going for $179 at one chain store, take the catalouge to that other store and you may end up with one for $161.10

Note sure of the price on the other models mentioned ?

shimano bait runner at 179 dollars is a bargain.i paid 280 for mine 2 years ago.for that kind of money you would be mad not to buy one.
