Almost any quality snaps will be more than strong enough (unless you are using 500KG line) remember that usually the knot is the weakest link, but in my experience, the "Hawian" snaps are the strongest, but do require a bit of practice to do/undo, incase you do not know them they are the ones that have two sort of overlapping 'hooks" and close over each other, pretty hard to explain but I think that does it, also the good old 'sampo" ones are strong, but usually larger in size

    Hi Mick

There's many options for you here. The Sampo tournament snaps rate up to about 300lb test and can cost up to $9 each. Yo Zuri Hawaiins generally rate up to about 152lb test @ up to $5 a pop. The Yo Zuri heavy duty ball bearing snaps rate up to aboput 350lb test and will set you back about $7 each (rated for 60kg line though), while Momoi's escape proof snaps rate up to 500lb at about $11 a snap.

If you really want to go overboard though, you can go all out and buy a heavy duty ball bearing swivel with corkscrew snap for a lazy $20 each (rated at 400lb for 60kg line class) .

To be serious though, and probably most suitable for bottom bashing, I don't think you can really go past the Yo Zuri ball bearing with coastlock snaps. Cost is between $3-$4 for #4-#7 and rated 100-160lb.

    Hope this helps Mick.

    Cheers

    Re: Strongest Snaps

    Hi Snelly,

    Pretty expensive those Hawaiian snaps,

We usually use Shogun black coast lock snaps, try to stay with the ones that have a normal swivel attached, or even do away with the swivel altogeather, I make my bottom rigs with 3 3-way swivels, 160/210 lb.

Just stay in the oversize for what you think range, we have no trouble with 160 lb snaps, but found even 110lb would turn inside out, & we only usually fish with 30 lb braid!!!!

    Hope it helps,

    Muzz

gees it would be a pretty sh!t 110LB swivel to bugger up on 30LB line, never did like those three way things (swivels that is) the Hawiian snaps will be probaly the strongest you can get.
