Launched from the passs in Byron early sunday morning in less than favourable conditions but needed a big fish for my businesses 10th birthday.
Started heading out to 4 mile and we were wondering what we were doing as the wind was up and it wasnt real pretty at all. Dropped the pick on our first mark after a bumpy ride out and as usuall lately the current was running so a little hard to get to bottom.
No more than ten minutes into the mornings session my rod buckles over and i am on. You beauty!
The fish stripped line off the old Jarvis walker that quick i think the washes in the $30 reel nearly melted together! After a good run i wasnt sure what i had until the tale tail of the big head shakes that snapper give were pulsong through the rod. Could it be, i was thinkiing, no surely not.
After a good ten minute tussle, i finally saw colour and could not conatain my excitement, Its a bloody snaper, get the f#$%$@ gaff.
My trusty skipper gave a perfect gaff shot and we were both staring at this beauty of a snap in the bottom of the boat. We came to get a big fish and i got one. Could not have been happier with this being easily my best snapper. What makes me even happier is that i can now put photos up so here goes, excuse the rough head boys, but now i can post photos you may seeemore of it!!
Sorry for the long post but i am still on the high!!
