Noosa River 20/5/07 The Love Boat?

Well, finally got the missus out in the boat.
With her being a virgin fisho, it was pretty frustrating at times, but at least she had a go.
Started off getting live bait, huge herring! First time I've never had a herring stuck in the net. They were that big that they all fell into the pocket. Yahoo!
Floated out a Herring, whack, Tailor of 46cm. Good start.
No hits on the Popper or the Maniac or the plastic. Hmmmm.

Moved to another spot when things started looking up. I pinned a livie and handed the rod to the missus. "I think I've got one". Good stuff, she lands a 48cm Flattie. She's stoked. Another drift, she nails a 40cm Cod.
Things were pretty busy as the livies were getting whacked every drift by mainly undersize lizards and cod. My berkeley prawn was also nailing small cod and flatties.

With all our live baits gone and things going a bit quite, it was time to head off.

What's that up ahead, fish busting out!!
Started throwing the maniac and landed a nice little Golden of 36cm and a nice Tea-leaf Trevally which went 53cm and 1.4kg.
Great fight on 4lb braid with 10lb flurocarbon leader.

Headed off after this with a very satisfied, happy and converted new fisherwoman.
Oh, what have I done? Does that mean I have a regular deckie now?
After a few more lessons and tuition --- maybe, maybe not.

    Cheers, Jeff.

    Thanks for your comments guys,
Pete, I also have had a tough run of late, quite a few fishless trips. Lets hope this little bit of rain fires them up.
Bob, Cosmetic surgery LOL that was good! I'd filleted the tailor and was heading home when I spotted the Trevally.
I haven't seen too many fish skeletons on the Brag mat i must admit!

    Cheers, Jeff.

Love the color on that golden mate. Look at it this way, if the missus shows an interest in fishin, youll just have to get her (read you) some nice new shiny gear to use

    cheers

Jeff, sounds like a great session. Match the fish to the right gear and you can have a fantastic day. A great introduction for the girl. Mate sounds like you went through the options of livies ,slices and came up trumps with the goods. Well done .

good session, and nice to share it with the other half.

The 'golden' trevally is actually a GT which has been well upstream. Juvenile golden trevally have golden bands, rather then a golden colour all over.

Sorry Jeremy, but you are wrong. This is a Golden Trevally. It has no teeth, just rubbery lips. GT's have teeth & GT's dont have vertical stripes!
No way is this fish a juvenile Giant Trevally, it's a Golden.

The second photo IS a Giant Trevally caught at Johns Landing, which is about 5ks from Noosa rivermouth.

They don't even look similar in shape, let alone colour.

    Cheers, Jeff

I agree the 'yellow' trevally in the first post does have the shape of a golden, but I have never seen one that colour. I will accept the correction.

    Cheers,
