Barron River Bridge today.

Morning all,

Got back from a quick trip to the old Barron River bridge this morning.

Only managed a undersize grunter and whiting which were returned to grow a few more times 10cm's

Did see that the old groper is back around the bridge and managed to snap a crappy photo with the camera phone before he flicked his tail and went back to the depths underneath the bridge.

Kind of enjoyed dropping a few prawns to the old fella and watching him effortlessly inhale them when he re-appeared 'bout 30 minutes later

great to see mate. have fished that bridge a few times but never seen that old girl - awesome experience for ya mate.

some of those estuarine groper are huge. i have seen a monster up close at 1770 and it is something i wont forget too soon i can tell you.

Not much in the barron these days mate try the palm cove jetty.....I can take you out oneday if you like to the reef or wreck trips.

Thanks for the offer, might take you up on that offer next time you're interested in going out and have a spot on your boat :-)

Got to admit that I haven;t had any success at Palm Cove Jetty in about 7 trips ranging from before dawn to about 9:00pm - still it may be that I'm just not going at the right times :-)
