Heard the road was done up but buggered up just as quick. Going to be hard keeping it up with no road gang on the island anymore. I'm hearing National parks talking its closed but no support from the Police? Who is going to enforce the law, can National Parks.

Accessible to everyone? How is everyone going to get there? The only access is by 4WD.

Is this retarded woman serious? There are no accidents on the inland route because no-one uses it. Plus it is pretty hard to have an accident while travelling at 2ks an hour. Idiots speed no matter where they are they don't need a beach.
Fair dinkum how can someone so stupid be making decisions that affect other people.
If we all ignore it and drive around there anyway and then refuse to pay any fine and all go through the courts using the defence that the other way is not safe and they have no right to force you to do something unsafe, they might wake up to themselves , or we could just go broke paying court costs.
I don't really like that Hook pt is being closed, especially since they haven't fixed the other road yet ... but the closure of Hook Pt has been discussed for years. This is nothing new. Once they fix the inland road (or maybe *if* they fix it) it should be ok.

The best way to get your message across is to send in individual letters (can all say the same thing) with an individuals name and address or other contact details . By doing this way you must be acknowledge as an individual and your complaint filed separately on the issue at hand. When a report is called for it is reporting protocol that as well as the numbers in support the numbers against must also be tabled and entered into the minutes . These numbers then mean something to a pollie and at the end of the day that's all pollies at all levels of government care about , THE numbers, stuff the merits of the issue.

Well Men I have very close contact with people arriving and leaving the island. By all reports the inland road is quite good at present. Graded just before the Fishing Comp. The only reason being, is there has been (No Rain) and also 98% of people go around Hook Point. I"ll give an example of how dangerous this road will become. Yesterday had a report of Tourist Bus sitting right up the Backside of
Family (KEPT PUSHING TO GO FASTER) was a nervous wreck by the time he got back to the beach. I hope i don"t have similar situation because I"ll drag the driver off the Bus.
I returned via Hook point on Tuesday 3rd july. I rounded the tip ( trees and all ) at 8am on a 10am high tide. Just made it through and basically no problems.
Didn't see any signs.

just came back from fraser, been going to double island fraser since the early seventies. sent a petetion to the gov got an email back. stiff already made their mind up. in all the who ha the people who winge the most have never been to these places ban 4x4s they say how the hell are you going to get there with out one. even the back packers bum lifts. in all the years i have been going i can not recall seeing any body camping at that end of the island.the point changes with every big storm, have a look at eli creek goes south now not north. seen an reply on a forum from someone in tasmania say ban 4x4s, never been to the place. my concern is the inland road is bloody terrible and when you leave the barge unless the board the entry it will be 5 times as bad as indian head at its worst becuse every body is fully loaded tempers will be on high allert trying to get to destinations before the tides have there say. greenies and winges have their place , one day i might find it.
