Re: Rectifiers
Hey Gilli
I would be checking those voltages, my manual for hilux say 13.8v -14.8
also motorcycle manual says 14.2-14.8
being an apprentice might as well get it right from the start
cheers dan

Re: Rectifiers
Hi guys, cant add anything to the thread but...... Does the average outboard charge the battery at all when at idle? Ive seen small solar pannels on the roofs of large cats/sailboats. Does anyone know if they would charge a battery from near flat to the state where they could start an outboard given long enough??
Cheers Chris

Re: Rectifiers
Hi Chris, yes to number1 but it is a minimal charge relative to the total charging amps of the individual engine.
Yes to number 2 also, slow but will get the job done, a generator is better.

Re: Rectifiers
Hi Lovey80
the solar panel would need to be fairly large to charge a flat battery. most small solar panels output milliamps it would take a very long time to obtain crank amps considering discharge over night. Solar panels are good to keep batteries topped up(ie trickle charge) rather than full charge.
Cheers Dan
