Envrionet Landing nets

A while back i broke my old landing net, so i went out looking ....ended up getting an environet.....working on the idea that because of the fine mesh i wouldnt get thing tangled up in it like the old style net.......now i know they are ment to be easier on the fish and so on....but my problem is trying to get the fish in...those times when you have to do a bit of a swipe because the fish takes fright at the side of the boat.....if you have a bit of tidal flow those nets are bloody hard to pull through the water if you have move it quickly.......thinking i might go buy an old style net...would hate to lose a good fish at the boatside

If you call the distributors they'll be able to tell you where your nearest retailer is so you can check them out. I think the smallest one costs around $44, not sure about the larger ones.

Might not be quite as good as an Environet but certainly better than the old knotted mesh nets, can't stand those things.

juju, save your money mate. The whole idea of a net is to take the fish to the net and not vice versa..........or so I was taught I just hold the net in the water and steer the fish towards it. If the net's stationary, the fish takes less fright.........the moment you move the net towards it, it'll try to take off. I've seen more fish lost through the net going towards the fish, than I care to remember...........that's why I net my own and don't let the deckie do it.

I looked at the fastnet once and I'm not sure how it'd handle a 3 gang 6/0 sticking out of a macks gob. The mesh just looks prone to having gangs drop through 'em IMHO.

The Environet has been good except last nite out of scarbrough and once up at bribie...both times there was a fair amount to tidal flow, and each ive had the net (or my offsider has) and i was playing the fish up and then , letting them drift back with the tide into the net (you know what i mean)...and these couple of time the fish has had a bit of a dive to the side)not much at all say a foot of so...and thats where the problem is with the net..because of the amount of resistance its hard to make that quick adjustment...something that when it happened with the old mesh net was never a problem because the water flowed through it so easy..........would like to have a look at that net and see how strong it feels//
