Headed out today for a fish, been that long I nearly forgot what it was like.
First stop was guiden point trolling for aussie salmon for bait, non there. Next stop was "the sounds", started trolling and got onto a few little fellows around the 200mm plus. Anchored up and got about 20. Then decided to head the back passage way to the petrel islands, well the back way has about 2km of 1m deep water and is normally ok if you get every thing right. Well I didnt get every thing right, so from a fully trimmed up postion and WOT to a stop, boat drift about 50m in 300mm of water, start the motor up and proceed to deeper water at a slow rate in about 500mm of water, not deep enough to get on the plane again. So after going at this pace for about 1/2 km we finally got on the plane and under way again. Anchored up on a mark and got 1 gummy and 4 swell shark (aka, carpet shark, slut shark, and every other evil name I know). Lifted anchor and moved about 100m and got 3 more gummy shark (all between 3 1/2 and 5 foot) and another 7 swell shark. Headed home after that in a confused 2 to 3 m swell.
