Best tow vehicle for my boat

I need a new tow vehicle to tow my boat. My boat is approx 1.8 tonnes. I was think a ford falcon or maybe a holden commodore. Unfortunately the budget only allows me to spend up to $3500 max. Help will be apreciated because i cant use my boat until i get a tow vehicle

    cheers,
    alex

I'd try for a early 80's model 4x4. Maybe a dual cab ute? Nissan Navara or somethin (cheaper than a hilux of the same vintage no doubt). Even a early cruiser or patrol, if you can find one that isnt full of cancer for that money.

    Landrover
Too heavy for a standard crummydoor I'd say. There was a thread yesterday about towable weights behind crummydoors and falcoons and how to get the tow capapcity up.
    Here it is http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/sho...d.php?t=109627

93/94 Discovery with 4000 kg tow capacity - no ABS etc to worry about. Try to get one on gas - V8.

I picked up a 94 4.2lt diesel Patrol wagon for $3500 from an auction recently, bargains are around it's just a matter of looking in the right places. I was in a similar situation to you, my 91 V6 Triton 4x4 would only tow 1500kgs legally so I had to upgrade, by the time I sold my Triton it only cost a couple of grand to upgrade to the Patrol.
    Good luck

i think you find a commmodore or falcon will really struggle to meet the legal requirements of towing 1800kg i agree with above a early 4x4 is a more practical option
    all the best

    alex,
I am sure that people on the site who are currently boatless but have a suitable tow vehicle would help you out until you find a suitable truck.
    ROLL TIDE, ROLL.................
