    Blue Swimmer Crab

Heading up to the Whitsundays for a couple of weeks. I'm taking the pots to catch a few muddies which has me thinking. I checked the australian goverment website and they say that their found around the entire queensland coastline. They also show them being found and caught only from SEQ. I have no doubt that they are caught all over the place but has anyone had any luck chasing them in or around the whitsundays??

Never tried it myself but I believe that sandies don't go that far North.

It's worth a try. I catch the occassional one around Townsville so they got to be in the Whitsundies.

I've seen them caught up here in Cairns as well. I've seen them in the fish shops marked 'caught locally' as well.

    Re: Blue Swimmer Crab

Don't know bout blue swimmers but when I lived in Cairns years ago used to catch red spot or coral crabs which were very similar. Same sort of spots for pots as sandies down here.
    Live to fish.
