    Cast nets

Buying my first cast net. What should I be looking for and what is the most appropriate size to begin.

I've checked out the tips section to investigate casting methods but have had a lot of trouble downloading. May someone can assist as to where I may access such info or alternatively just get out there and do it?

    Cheers WoW

Just buy a 9ft net with instructions and then play in your yard until you can get it right

Thats the go kingkev. I started with A 10 footer, through it about 100 times in the back yard and was ready to go.

    G'day

A few ways to look at it.

If you're chasng prawns... a top pocket net is advisable.

If it's just bait, then a bottom pocket net is what you're after.

I find monofilament nets to be the best, and s a beginner... somewhere between 8' and 10' should see you doing quite allright.

Practice is the key and there's also instructions on how to throw a cast net in the tide guide.
