Hi guys
I live on Northern suburbs of Bris and was wondering if anyone can tell me if the winter whiting have started to move in close in the bay yet. Around Cabbage Tree, Pine, Redcliffe,Scarborough or a bit further north (Beachmere etc).
Any info or ideas appreciated.
Cheers
Pete

They are starting to show up in DBay,and some out off the airport, not in any huge numbers and are a bit patchy guy near me went out yesterday and got about 30 or so from out towards the pearl channel early
There's a few starting to appear off Woody Point as well, but no size in them yet. Just nuisance value

Thanks all - appreciate the info and it looks like a few more weeks yet before any numbers are around.
Cheers

I got 30 2 weeks ago in about an hour and ahalf out the cockle banks they were a good size as well
Cockle banks are the ones that start at the red buoy near pebble beach and run west.
Sorry for my ignorance, where is pebble beach?
they are out between scarborough and bribie there is a red marker go about a klm out from there start drifting over the banks and you cant miss getting a feed

There is heaps up at scarborough now not far from the boat ramp my mate got 100 a couple of days ago
It's all part of the fishing experience
180 caugh near the red pilon between bribie and scarborouh head out from the ramp turn towards bribie once past the leads head straight at the water tower on bribie when you can see the bribie bridge and are in line with the red pilon drift any where around there i am normally 500 mt straight out from the pilon but you may have to move around a bit to find them squid works as well as worms there fish are 20-23 cm but be careful there are dugongs there so watch your speed

Displaying my ignorance again, but guys what is the difference between winter and summer whiting? Are they readily identifiable? Is there a size limit on winter whiting? What is a 'good size'?
easy to spot the difference, the Winter Whiting have jumpers on, the Summer ones wear sunglasses. and the best way to see if 'they are on" is go and have a fish and not be too lazy and wait untill someone else spends the time and effort first.
