Thread: Somerset conditions?

    Somerset conditions?

I am heading off to Somerset for my first trip. I'll be there Tuesday morning.

I've never been there so advice on where to fish would be great, but I am most interested in the current ramp conditions at Kirkleagh, and will I have any problems with my Front wheel drive Camry launching my 5m boat.

    Thanks in advance

Try the Spit. You will get in there no worries at all AND it's closer to where the fish are...

    Re: Somerset conditions?

You shouldn't have any probs launching at Kirkleagh, the dirt ramp near the manager's house would be best.
Plenty of yellowbelly being caught on shrimp in the timber upstream of Kirkleagh and a few bass out wide of Queen Street & Dead Tree Point.
Phil is right about fish down the wall end but they're still a little spread out and all the skiers & wakeboarders expected there over the long weekend won't help. Give them a day or two to get over it.
If you do head down it only takes me 20 mins from Kirk with my 40hp.
Try Jackall Mask Vibs & Slider Grubs.
Good luck & let us know how you go.
    Cheers

Thanks fella's, I am running only a 6hp, so will be heading up into the timber, (which is 6knot limit currently) would take me all day to head down towards the wall!

I Fished the dam on saturday.. was a slow day.. found plenty of bass on the sounder in the 1st cove on the left up from the spit boat ramp, but they were shut down. Only ended up with 12 bass biggest 48cm
a little disapointing from last months effort of 40 + bass..
