Magellan Meridian Gold GPS

Hi folks
A mate of mine has been given a Magellan hand held.. I believe it's a Meridian Gold model.. anyway, he didn't get much of a manual for it, so I downloaded one for him, but now he is asking me if there is a CD Rom for it ?

I checked the Magellan website, can't see anything there.. If anyone has one I'd appreciate a copy if possible..

What CD Rom? Does he mean MapSend? Maps, Charts etc? They can be downloaded but he will require a user account / unlock codes etc. There is no point in simply a copy of the CD Rom as the specific GPS requires specific codes to unlock the mapping before it can be used.

have a meridian colour handheld. You're after the bluenav software, the website for magellan here in oz is nextdestination.com.au

May be worth a call to magellan themselves to suss it futher, you do realise the GPS your friend has is now supereded

Not really after maps etc, these are simple hand held units. My Magellan had a CD which was more like a computerised user manual, and you could download and manage waypoints etc via the link in the back of the unit.

Yes, well aware its an outdated unit, but for an old bushy he doesn't care about the latest and greatest

Then for managing waypoints upload/download use EasyGPS.

I have a meridien Gold and got Discover Australia on CD with the pack. The camping shops have that CD, but it hasn't ben updated for several years as far as I know.
With the proper cables, you link it to your laptop or PC and upload the data that way.

hi mate

i have a magellan platinum which i changed over to aus basemap instead of americas . which gives you main roads and cities .also have mapsend streets on sd card which gives you all the streets and 4wd tracks .


just wondering what base map is yours.

Yes i still have GPS, cables and CD

I don't think Magellan are supporting this model any more though.
