I've looked around the site and Googled it but I can't seem to find an exact time difference for the tide between Port Alma and Rocky city centre. I would guess it about an hour and a half later but the exact number would help because having moved to Rocky six weeks ago, I'm still getting used to the tropical way of things. Namely, fishing around low instead of high and the fact that you need to launch a boat before the ramp leads to thigh deep mud as I found out last week.
Hows it going mate
if you get yourself a copy of "THE OFFICAL TIDE TABLES AND BOATING SAFETY GUIDE 2007" released by MARITIME SAFETY QUEENSLAND it has all your tides for Queensland and a set of calculations to find out the tide at various locations it retails for $8.50 i picked mine up from the local post office. If you dont want to purchase the book PM with your email and i will email you a copy of the calculations
hope this helps

The tide times for Rocky are printed in the tide tables or are available online through the Qld Transport website, under Maritime Safety.
Click on 'tides' in the top line, right hand side, then 'tide time differences' in the blue box on the left.
On the right hand side of the page that comes up you will see a heading 'downloads'. Under that a sub-heading 'semi-diurnal tidal planes'. Click on 2007 and look down the list (it's 4 pages) under the Standard Port of Gladstone until you find Rockhampton.
I've got no idea why it's under Gladstone Port times. I'm also mystified why Jacobs Well tide times are under the Brisbane Bar standard port instead of the Gold Coast Seaway. Anyone out there able to help?
the tide difference between Rocky and Gladstone are about 1hr 20 for high, and about 2 and 1/2 hours for low. Port Alma is only a few minutes diffence to Gladstone ( I think ). You can pick up a tide chart ay any of the local tackle shops around here. They generally have the tide time differences for the local area on the back.
Thanks Bay, I actually drove down there at low tide today and google earthed the distance to be 12km........ and yeah I was using that good for nothing ramp.
One question about the run from that ramp. Are there any submerged rock bars that I should know about between that ramp and the city?
