    Bargara 22nd - 29th Holiday

With the amount of work one does through the year we all need some time away.
You find yourself in a bit of a circle of work home fishing etc. So the plan was to take a week away and just relax have a bit of family time and have a fish.

The destination was to be Bargara Beach just 10ks from Bundaberg. Having never been there myself I thought it looked like a nice place to go see.

What a nice place Bargara is and I was lucky enough to stay at Manta Bargara which is just a splended resort. I highly recommend it to all.

Anyhow I managed to get 4 Fishing trips in for the week with only one fish to show for it.

Trip 1: Fished the mouth of the Burnett River for hours with no hits then bam zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz oh I will get spooled here start the motor and chase chase zzzzzzzzzzzzzz got him next to the boat and him was a tuna of around 80cm+ nice yeah sure off he dove again zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz then gone hook and plastic back for me with no fish to show for it 25min fight for nothing. The deadly 5inch watermelon red glitter berkly gulp had done the damage. No other hits. Couldn't believe my eyes the amount of bait schools and tuna in the area what a sight.

Trip 2: Fish the Burnett river in front of the marina chasing the Tuna schools in the arvo only to hit a school of sharks and catch about 30 on the famous pumpkin seed minnow. Then was ready to leave bang zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz tuna for sure zzzzzzzzzzz there goes my braid bye bye might start the motor then it just spat the hook damn. Saw one guy land one tuna throwing slugs that was it

Trip 3: Fished from the mouth and down the Burnett river for no hits.

Trip 4: Fished the old sugar mill in the burnett river using the famous TMSK speacial third cast bang zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz here we go after a bit of a fight in comes Mr 58cm Trevor. Nice that wiill do me for tea. Not a single hit after that

All in all I now know TMSK speacial can catch Tuna & Trevally so I learnt something even tho the fishing was slow had a nice time and when I wasn't fishing I lay in the pool most of the time. Nice country up at Bargara had a great time and will go back in the future. Is there any fish this lure can't catch geez

P.S: Those tuna are not an easy fish to catch tuna every where chase throw plastic bait not much interest from them at all any one got any tips on getting one for next time?

Great report ! hopeing to get ack up there myself someday!!

You might have done better on the tuna speedsters using slugs or metals casting and retreiving at high speed.

Good read Tinn, thanks .Still good to get away for a few days and do the family thing. You mentioned the Manta Bagara ,no problem with having somewhere secure for the boat? Always carry a few slugs for a spin.

Chief: Had no problems as I had two carparks allocated to me for my unit one for the boat one for the car and the carpark is locked but I didn't leave anything in the boat to be taken. Next time slugs will be with me for sure.

Setthehook: Nice place up that way got to go back my friend and with slugs this time

Awesome river the burnett. Surprisingly there are a shiteload of big jacks around those rock walls near the mouth all year, along with barra, bad cod and just about everything else. Getting them out is the only problem! Gotta love bargara!!!!!!!

    Great report Tinn.

Travel writing keeps things interesting even though it usually proves harder to catch fish in new places.

    Cheers,
