Rod to Suit TSS4 for Flicking Slugs in the Surf

Hi I am looking for advice on the right rod to match to a TSS4 for flicking slugs in the surf.

Don't worry guys I haven't turned into a girl, I still have about 4 alvey 650's and 3 600's for use when using bait, just thought I might have to try slugs (& sliders of course) for a change and research suggested TSS4 was the best bet.

    Cheers

    Hi

A Snyder Mag surf White Tip or a Gary Howard PPG surf classic might do the trick. they have a softer tip which aids in flicking slugs. And they have a very strong middle and but for big stuff.

Agree with rockfisho, but if using an overhead like an Abu 7000 or Penn 525 you might like to try a FSU5120 (very cheap but good), with or wihtout a butt extension (sounds a bit rude!!).

I have a PPG heavy and it pelts out 65 and 85g easily. There is also a kevlar wrap rod done by angler rods (not sure if they still make them) a mate had until he high sticked it on a greenback. Very nice rod.

I use a FSU 4120G matched with a TSS4. Its a pretty common Surf spinning setup. This will throw a 65g Raider well over 90m and is pretty light to use. Mine has a 150mm extension to improve casting

    Horse is spot on!

The FSU 4120G is a great set up and matches well with the TSS4.
I use this set up for high speed spinning off the rocks.
Live fibre also make a 4120 which is a great blank.

get ya hands on the live fibre ZWS10LJ. 10' rated 8-10kg. can launch a 65g slug out the back breakers. nice and light blank that you can cast all day

    Thanks for the advice guys.

I am not a rod builder but I'll be looking out in the shops for some rods made with those specs.

I have a Wilson MT4144 matched to a TSS4 which has done me well for flicking slugs out into the suds. If you buy your gear from a tackle shop instead of one one of the marts and you will be able to get plenty of advice to help with your purchase.

Id be looking at spending the extra $ and going one of the graphite rods for there livelier action and lighter weight!! 10-11 foot should be fine,
