    Landbased Squiding??

    Hi All,

Looking at going Squiding tonight (landbased) can anyone give me some ideas on areas where I should try.

I have never been squiding before and am interested in taking the wife out as she gets a bit sea sick out on the boat.

So any information that any one can provide would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

Probably a bit early for land-based squiding at this stage. They are at their best during mid winter and can be caught from jetties like Shorncliffe, Woody Point (currently closed) and Redcliffe, probably attracted by the jetty lights. They are best across the high tide when the water is deeper. I'm sure some south-side ausfishers can give you a few south-side locations.

    G'day

Southside locations would include the gunn jetty in manly harbour, and both victoria and wellington point jetties.

They are supposed to be building a new jetty at Woody Point and the old one has had the approach removed so you can not gain entry onto it. It is also sign posted as condemned.

Although they've taken away the first span of the jetty and put up a wire mesh barrier across it, that doesn't seem to stop people getting out and fishing from it. There were people fishing from the end of it when I came in today and also the last couple of times I've come back from Mud.
