    Squire off Coochie

    Hi all,

Had a late start today as I watched the cricket for longer than I should have.

I wasn't too worried as high water was around 7.30am and I was on the water by 7.30. I was surprised that there were so few boats at the Victoria Point ramp, maybe the wind forecast or the cricket kept most at home.

I fished around Coochie with plastics and had a good day. I ended up with 4 keeper squire and all were of good size - 49, 55, 58 and 65cms.

The 65cm being a personal best on soft plastics. I have probably missed bigger fish on occasions, but that is the luck of the draw when you use light gear and have fish that go so hard.

All fish caught in less than 4 metres of water and fish where caught using 5 inch zooms (super flute). The watermelon seed colour worked best today.

Also had a large fish (20 plus pounds - my estimate) swim about a metre under my boat for about 5 minutes. My guess was that it was a cod (convex tail). I tried to get him to take my plastic, but he showed no interest.

Back at home just after 11am.

    Cheers

    Shane

Nice fish Shane. Gotta be happy with those beauties. Maybe the weather forecast was the reason. I wasn't going to go until I got a call from Jez saying it pretty good. I think I should move closer to the bay

Well done mate, 65cm is not a bad bay fish.

Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day. But ,flogging him into submission will result in him taking up crabbing.... and once he gets a taste of that sh*t, well, he may never return again.

Nice catch mate, I've been on call all weekend, its the first weekend in about 3 months that I haven't been out. So all I've been able to do is sit here and look at everyones posts and catches. I might have to pull a mental health day this week with the full moon coming up, and make a midweek trip with my brother.

Nice catch of squire and from Coochie goes to show you that you don't have to go far to get a feed.

I am guessing you fished the NE side would I be correct?
It's all part of the fishing experience
