    inner gneerings

    gday all, im thinking of heading out to the reefs in my tinnie for the first time and i came across a gps mark for the inner gneerings and it only came up about 3 - 4 nautical miles off mooloolaba. im just wondering if anyone fishes this area much and if they can give me any advice on how to fish this reef. any advice at all would be much apreciated. thanks mlc

    At this time of year you can troll Halco minnows 150mm and expect both Yellowfin & Mack Tuna, the odd spanish will also be about. WNW of the blinker is a shoal thats worh a look.

    fish very light, floaters , first light, fresh / live bait

    I fish the area a bit - plus the outers which are also not far out. I usually anchor up and fish the bottom. At the same time I have a berley trail going with a floater in it. System works well.

    I would agree on using floaters. Some spots are less than eight metres deep and a floater will work it's way to the bottom if you anchor up. Even a dead pillie will sometimes catch something great if you're there just before sunlight. Snapper (might be a bit early in the season for a big one), maori cod, sweetlip are the usual but probably in small numbers (all you really need anyway).
