You can get a water-proofing spray and apply it yourself. Go to a camping store and ask what they sell that might do the job. There are also a few companies around that do canvas repairs - Australian Combat Equipment is a good one. They are in Enogerra.

Yeah as Phoenix has said just go to a camping place. They will have the waterproofing spraycans there. It is the same stuff they use on tents.

If it is an unbacked (looks identical on both sides) canvas then it would not have been water proof to start of with.
        .....before you ask.....
A non-waterproof material would have been used to allow any water that is in your boat to evaporate out while the cover is on. If your cover is waterproof the water will sit in the boat and rot or corrode faster then it would a dry boat.
Best thing to do is store your boat with the bow higher then the stern to allow the water to run out the bung holes. Any excess water will evaporate through the cover.

I agree with you MBC, but think there is a diferance between a fabric which repels water and lets it bead and run off and also breath at the same time.

All covers seem to do that when new, but not long before the water soaks straight through, p!sses me off, don't try silicone spray it ain't that.

Acrylic canvases such as Sunbrella and Sea Star are made of a fibre that will repel water and provided there is enough slope in the material it should run off. However if the cover is loose or flat it will allow the water to pool and drip through.
If it is made of cotton canvas which I would think is highly unlikely the fibres will absorb the the water and once saturated will let water through very quickly.
A cover should be made so that there aren't areas that the water can pool when the boat is stored so that water can run out the bung holes. As well as being tight enough to hold its shape when subjected to heavy rain.

Go to Bunnings and buy a litre can of waterproofer its about $20.00, paint it on or use one of those pump upo spray bottles.
