Thread: How Is Your Yalta Craft Going

Thumbs up How Is Your Yalta Craft Going

I have had my 555HG Yalta now for 12 months and i couldn't be happier.
I had a couple of small problems when i first got it but at the first service, Marine Tune fixed it all up.
I have been out in most sea conditions that can be thrown at you and it handles like a dream. Out at the banks last year we had the sea turn nasty but after about 2 hrs we got back safe and sound.
The Yamaha 115 4/s runs really well and is very good on fuel and is going better everytime we take it out.
I know i have to put my name on it yet but rome wasn't built in a day either. ( GAWBY II )
Thats my story with my boat, what about yours.

    G'day Graeme,

That really is a neat little boat... you have set it up well so that everything works nicely when you are out fishing.

My Yalta was the older model 2000 Odessa, but it was a brilliant boat.

With a bit of decent marketing, Yalta could be right up there amongst the best selling boats.

    They are very under rated.

    Cheers

    Pete

Gawby, What hp is the hull rated to. What performance figures do you get with that motor? Would I be correct in assuming that yalta are more economical to buy than similar glass boats of other makes? It looks like a nice fishing boat. cheers Scott

    Pete,
Put a black stripe down the side of yours and they are the same. Took the back seats out last time and what a difference with the extra room.
    Jason,
Yes we keep saying see you soon.
    Scott,
The hull is rated to 150hp. For another about $2,500- i could have got the 150 but decided on the 115 and am very happy with it.
I haven't done a litres per hour thing but the last time to the banks it cost $70-00 to fill it up when we got back. I can go off southport out to the 24s troll up to jumpin pin and back for $20-00.
I spent a lot of time comparing the yalta with the cruise craft which i really like and for $20,000-00 less the yalta was it for me.
I paid about $42,000- which included a few extras which add up realy quick.
It is great to fish out off and is stable in rough conditions when fishing at anchor.

graeme, I was actually interested in your cruising speed and WOT with the 115. It sounds like great value for the money you paid for it and not to shabby looking either. Cheers Scott

Greame thanks for posting your opinions on your new vessel, fantastic to get some owners' thoughts, very helpful for those like me wrangling with boat choices.
Especially pleasing to read that you are very satisfied with all aspects of your purchase.
    Cheers.

Were you looking at the C/C Explorer also?
That certainly is a large saving of $$$s.
    Cheers.

Re: How Is Your Yalta Craft Going

    Gawby,

must have got mine around the same time as you. Going great, had a couple of problems with rust on the stainless and my bait tank pump no longer working. I have also had pretty good service from the guys at marine tune.

Only complaint so far was not enough rollers on the trailer, tended to screw in any sort of wind, added another set of rollers and all is good.

I put the 130 Yam 2- on the back interesting to see your stats on fuel consumption, I get about 28-32 litres p/h on 4200 rmp at about 44kph, only problem with this is the distance I can go, now considering repowering.

Everyone who has been in the boat loves it, handles open water with ease.

to answer some of the questions:

2x adults plenty of room up front,

Wide open 5900 rpm does 70km's (dont look at the fuel flow meter though).

    Graeme.

The more I have used my Triple 5 the more impressed I have become with it. I heard a while back that they were going to make a second 555 mould and increase production. I’m not sure if this has happened or not. The demand for the boats just seems to be increasing as they are still great value for money.

    Honda.
Did you convert one of the back quarter tanks into a live bait tank? On looking at them they are about 20L and I was thinking they were a bit small. I can’t imagine it would be hard to enlarge it to be around 40L.

With the weather cooling there should be a few Yaltas pushing offshore in the weeks to come.

If you hear me on the water (Redcliffe Mobile 323) give me a hoy.
