    Solo mission in the bay

    G'day Ausfishers

Launched at Manly at 4am and had my first plastic in the waters around Green at about 4:30am. Second cast and I'm onto a strong fish that put on some good runs before I had it in the net - my PB snapper at 52cm. With the help of the GPS, I soon worked out the drift and boated a 45cm model about 15 minutes later. These two fish were all I needed for tomorrow night's dinner, so decided to catch and release for the rest of the session.

By dawn, I had released another few squire ranging from 30 to 40cm. After that the boats arrived in mass and action slowed down. Apart from throwbacks (mainly bloody grinners), the only decent fish caught were a parrot fish at 36cm, and a bar-tailed flathead at 57cm.

Did a few drifts with Scalem, Anthony, Great White and Poodroo until around 7:30am then decided to venture up the eastern side of St Helena to check out some spots and do a bit of exploring. Hardly any boats but not many fish either except from a cod at 34cm and the usual bloody grinners.

Had 2 more drifts (more like line dancing) for no result at Green before making tracks back home at 9am.

    Here's a photo of Thursday's dinner.

    Cheers, Brad.

    Nice going

We were one of the late arrivals to Green and only picked up a lot of just under Squire Parrot and sweeties. Came back in the late afternoon to an empty reef and got seven to 52cm in about 45mins

    Brad,

What a nice fish! The 52cm fish is a PB to be proud of, especially considering how new you are to this part of the bay, and you've already got it sussed!!. Good to see you out on the water, make sure you wear that red beannie again next time your are out, it was easy spotting you amoungst the hoards....

Was good meeting you Brad. Was one of those days that didn't work out as well for me however. I had the biggest fish of the day spit the hook just before the boat. Had a huge amount of fight in it and was giving the light gear a good workout. Disappointing after all that fighting but that is the luck of the draw with fishing. Next decent fish was not quite as big but it rubbed me off on the reef and I got a very tatty line back minus the jighead. The third and final fish was a strange hit. Smash then nothing. Didn't have time to strike it and I had half the trace left. Must have been an Edward Scissorteeth fish that one. For the rest of the day I just caught juvenile of everything. But at least you did well. May have to be your deckie some day. Lol

    Regards,

    Poodroo
