    Spot X today :-)

    Evening all,

With my father in law Arthur up for a few days who also loves to wet a line he found a spot that he felt would hold Jacks and Barra.

We tried it yesterday with no success but it was so fishy looking that we had to give it another bash this morning. Yesterday he got a barra to rise to a gold bomber lure but no more and there were plenty of fish smashing the surface till around 8:30am then there was pretty much nothing.

This morning I had a PrawnStar Junior that I thought might be a good shot at getting Barra to strike however had no luck, but Arthur had several good strikes on poddy mullet fillets so I switched back to stinky baits

Not long after, Arthur's reel let a zzzzzzzzz and he quickly picked it up out of the rod holder and struck to feel a weight on it. Not long after a nice 35cm jack came to the shore prised from his lair and it was smiles all round. We had been rewarded for the perseverance and we had seen a few barra the previous day so they were the next target.

Only other thing of note that we did was that I tossed a sorry looking piece of bait into the middle of the spot and Arthur remarked that there would be a 60cm barra come up and monster it as it sunk.

You couldn't write a better script as we both watched within a second of him finishing the comment and a flash of silver about 60cm long sprinted about 10m to monster the raggedy looking bait.

We both had a laugh and swore never to throw any bait into the waterway again unless it had hooks in it.

The Jack was damn tasty tonight for dinner too

Hey Andrew good to see you getting a hold of those much loved jacks, well me and my uncle got a new boat headed out this morning to give it a whirl and was great jeez that 25 HorsePower really gets up. We where there for a while (Inlet) hardly any bites & meanwhile my lures didnt even get touched.. Chucked 1 crab pot in though and picked up 2 good sized crabs very tasty for dinner. Cant wait to get out on ANZAC day looks like good tides!

    Cheers Dyl
