Hi all, Went for a fish at Bribie with the young fella. We were trolling lures for something different, looking for some flathead or bream. I caught 1 x 45 cm flattie and Buddy (9yrs old son) got 1 x 50cm flattie and the 2nd, his 52cm flattie was the one that didnt get away. He lifted the flattie out of the water as I was getting the net, it shook its head spat the lure and landed in the front of the tinny, the hooks of the lure sling back and hook Buddy in the arm. I cut the line free from the lure, still in his arm & its off to hospital we go..10 minutes away from boat ramp, flattie still in the front of the tinny (with all the comotion happening) and the fish decides to give it one more go. It starts thrashing around and spikes poor Bud in the foot...MORE BLOOD & STILL NO TEARS. Get back to ramp, Mum's waiting for the patient, off to hospital he goes. Doctors first try the string trick.
1, 2, OUCH!! It didnt come out...Try it again...Mum spits, and says no more..then comes the needle and scalpule. Out it comes. The story ends well, all the fish except the one flattie get let out to fight another day, Bud's fine, a bit sore & I got my lure back in 1 piece.
