Changed plans and ehaded out from Welo ramp a touch late at 5.15 this morning.
Now this is where it gets ugly................. an esky ful of bait, and i'm out there flicking bits of squishy plasti fish shaped thingies.................. the darkside had me?
Anyway, we get hit quite a few times, and nothing at the boat bar a coupla throw back squire. I cant believe i actually fished and landed a squire with placcies. "FOrgive me father for i have sinned......i used soft plastics today
we moved up to Green, and deckie Mark-P gets hit on the first drop.....but nothing at the boat...same for me. Hits, coupla hookds ups but nothing landed.
Next we go to Mud for a look. Well, it looked like the worlds biggest boat car park. Boats every corner of Mud. Unbelievable, so much traffic had no hope of catching a feed.
where to now? MArk suggests secret spot XYZ, somewhere near St Helena. I'm game I says, so down we go to St Helena.
Bingo!!!! Fist drop on a half pilly............. nice 47cm cod.................... you bewdy, i'm back to the light with stinky bait......begone you darkside placcy stuff........
All in all a very quiet day on the bay, got a feed of nice cod and a keeper flounder in the end at ST Helena, good company with deckie Mark-P.
PS: Geez Didnt that wind get up early? then drop away again. Saw a blue boat on the way back at Wello, said hello to Aquarius, nice meeting you mate, see you out there next time.
Don't give up on the plastics mate just follow the hardyheads and throw a few casts in behind them.
The squire were rounding them up a noon today.
That cod will go well on the dinner plate tonight.
I have to side with Aquarius and Mickstar just stick with it. Better yet leave the smelly bait at home and take only plastics! Just don't go leaving your rod unattended (re my post: free placcie rod).
