    Talking Wello pt 19.4.07

WOW.... Whart a night. I havnt had such a good fish like this in the bay for years. I was in a 4.15 tinnie with just a sounder {mates boat Dave Dobson} had more gear in the boat than you could poke a stick at. Last night went off. We were throwing snapper under 40 cm back. It was full on when i caught a 57cm snapper, it just peeled line and went left, cleaned up all the other fishing lines around the boat. I ended up hand reeling him in the last couple of meters in becaue all the lines had knotted up at the end of the rod tip. IT WAS STRESSFUL. Eyes lit up when i saw him..OH YEAH BABY. TOTAL 10 snapper 3 taylor.

Nice haul there!! To answer some others questions...I'm going to take a stab and say you were using bait - never seen anyone use placcies with an alvey before

    Any particular depth of water?

    Cheers,

    Adam

    Re: Wello pt 19.4.07

ADAMY, my guess would be that they were in the shallower water. Remember when we sit out there, we sit the deeper water for the 'bigger' stuff as everytime we came in off the ledge, we would get the 'smaller' fish. We don't get those numbers in the deeper water but the quality is better. I could be wrong but i'm sure STACER will confirm.

BILGE, night time is bait time at Wello...

PS ADAMY: remember the night we got the 64cm model on the SP's after a very slow slow slow night on baits last year (mainly due to wind direction)?

Nice catch of fish. No wonder there are no fish around if people keep so many...its a shame you didn't throw 90% of them back to fight another day!

    Re: Wello pt 19.4.07

Beeg Kahuna you have to be able to catch them to throw them back. Stacer_440 is within the limits of the law

Yes i was useing pillies not plastics. The night was very black. Using old faithful 12ft old flexi rod with mr alvey. Im a big believer in only take what you need and stck with the new fishing guide lines. This also means keeping your plastic bags in the boat. I was blown away last night and i hope there will be more times like these. tight lines everyone

    Another Snapper Hugger!!

Guys, guys, guys! There are laws and regulations for a reason! STACER has not broken any and neither has anyone else that sticks within the laws of the state! So anyone that wants to bag law abiding citizens should move to another country or start their own where they can rule the way they want to! Until then, to the 'baggers'....

And like TINN said, you have to be capable of catching them first! It's the old 80/20 rule i guess... Work smarter and be part of the 20 rather than the 80!

Great catch stacer! I've had the same line tangle probs on a smaller fish though, my brother and his mate kindly cut their lines for me!
