Nice unexpected prawn session

Decided to go fishing early Wed morning so hit my regular cast netting spot for some live mullet and a few mud herring. Really struggled to find these little buggers but in the process managed to net 1 kg prawns. All round about 10-12 cm. Ate half of them that night and took the other half for bait. Hit the Townsville rocks at 5:30am. On the last prawn I caught a 44 cm Flathead. That was it for 5 hours of fishing. Calm day and a beautiful sunrise.

Wife came home and said that 1 small flatty between the 2 of us was not really enough. We decided to head back down to my castnetting spot about 10 minutes away in an attempt to supplement the measly flatty fillets.

First cast and we had 12 prawns. Cast netted for about 45 minutes and came home with 2.5 kg of fresh prawns(10-12cm). Well and truly supplemented the dinner meal and will have a few more dinners later as well as enough for an afternoon fishing session this arvo as well.
