North stradbroke Island Borefeild and Pipline

    Summary of proposed action
NOTE: You must attach an A4 size map/plan(s) showing the location and approximate boundaries
of the area in which the project is to occur. The summary below should encompass any alternative
locations, timeframes or activities that are listed in Section 3.2.

    2.1
    Short description
The project is to construct and have operation a new borefield and
associated pipeline on North Stradbroke Island (NSI) (Figure 1) to
pump groundwater into the South East Queensland regional water
grid (Figure 2) via the Eastern Pipeline Interconnector (Figure 3)
as part of the South East Queensland Regional Water Supply
Strategy by 31 December 2008. The Southern Regional Water
Pipeline Company Pty Ltd will be the proponent for the project and
will implement the project on behalf of Redland Shire Council.

    Locality
The location of the borefield is not yet known, although locations
currently under consideration are shown in Figures 4 and 5. The
location of the borefield will be finalised during the assessment
    phase (refer Section 3.2).
The pipeline route will traverse the island from the borefield, south
to the current NSI Water Treatment Plant. The final alignment has
not been decided. Three potential alignments (eastern, central and
western) have been considered during the assessment phase with
two ie. the Preferred Alignment and Alternative Alignment B, to be
the subject of further environmental assessment.

Re: North stradbroke Island Borefeild and Pipline

it's not only stirring Greenies up, practically every resident is against the plan. there seems to be too many unknowns, not enough conclusive studies. doubt they're even capable of determining long term repercussions.
What will happen if the hydraulic pressure of the existing ground water is reduced too far? a few of the perched lakes have been dry for years as it is.
have to find out where they get their crystal balls from.

just find the "educated "person" who declared flat rock a green zone and problem solved no one will be allowed near it.
