    Rusty Springs

I was wondering if anyone here can give me a tip on trailer maintenance. After every launch I always wash off the trailer, paying particular attention to the springs, brakes and wheels. But of course the hubs and springs continue to rust away. I am worried that I am going to have to replace the springs and the hubs on the trailer soon after a 3 1/2 year life.

Any tips other than washing to keep the rust at bay? Fish oil? That paint on rust converter stuff?

    Any tips appreciated.

With all the expensive and time consuming things you could do to preserve these items, it may just be cheaper to replace the under carriage bits at that stage. Then hit the new stuff with the expensive stuff and forget about it till next time.

Lanolin spray works well on the springs. They tend to sag after 5-7 years in any case and so will still need replacing. With the hubs you can spray them with WD40. It won't affect the braking as it will burn off quickly under the first application of the brakes.
