    Mega-gar at Mud

Ran over to Mud at dawn yesterday and fished the eastern side for a couple of hours. Wasn't getting anyhting exciting, just grassies, parrot and undersized squire, so I decided to try right in close to the island on the top of the tide to see if I could berley up a bream or two. Anchored in about 2 metres of water and started the berley trail, which immediately attracted a crowd of damsel fish with a few bream towards the bottom and a heap of big river garfish. For a bit of fun I rigged for gar and caught about 20 before I went out into deeper water again. They were some of the biggest river gar I've ever seen, and gave me some nice fresh bait as well. Unfortunatley the size of the fish did not improve but it was a magic day on the bay weather wise

Hi I'm new to this site and live in Sydney, but every year I come up to Qld for 5 weeks fishing. .......and I"M LOVING IT! The reason for this post is that last year there were HUGE schools of Gar in the Maroochy river in July.Me and a mate caught a few then we noticed heaps of them showering into the air.We asked a couple of locals what was chasing them and were told it was large Tailor. Given the speed of the predators attacks we both thought it might have been Mac Tuna ,what do you fellows think?
