Looks like a juvenile LION FISH to me.

Not a clue in the world. Dont think its a lion fish. I know it wouldnt have been in my boat though!!! Cant wait to find out what it is

I think it might be a scorpion fish but im not completely sure.
called a bearded ghoul, have to watch those spines as they do stingy but not as bad as a stone fish.

I never handle a fish i'm not familiar with except with a pair of longnose pliers.
Just curious to know what we have in our bay and this info could help someone in the future.

Bearded Ghoul/Red Rock Cod.Like Webby said,don't touch the end of those spines or you'll know about it.Cut the head of and then cut the fillets off.Beautiful to eat.The old Red rock cod used to be sold many years ago as Lobster in Sydney restaurants as the fillet is thich to the head a tapers down to the tail.Don't let the looks put you off.
