M&G with SCALEM at WELLO - Sat 14/04

Hi All!

After a long overdue catch up, SCALEM and yours truly hit the water at Wello at 4.00am on Saturday. Conditions were better than expected with not a lot of other boats around although there was little drift early as the westerly was pushing us against the incoming tide.

Nonetheless, still managed a good feed with 2 Snaps at 45cm, a flattie at 45cm and another Snap at 38cm from Green. The good ole TMSK special was the plum placcie at Wello with the Green specimen falling to an Atomic paddletail in pumpkinseed. I think SCALEM is in awe of the TMSK...

It was great to fish with a bloke who loves his fishing like I do and even to the point where he was still having a last cast while I was getting the boat ready for the trip home (I was on a tight schedule and had to be in at 9.00am).

We both lost 'lineburners' at Wello and the fish seemed to be sitting in the deeper water. Not a lot of throwbacks either but i think we were still a few days early with the new moon tomorrow night. May have to get out mid week before work for another crack!

Looking forward to some more trips sooner rather than later Brian as I know TINN has torn a 'heartlidge' and will be scarce for a few months ....

Nice to see you got a couple T1. Sunday was dead at Wello think a mid week trip is calling I can feel that there is a 5kg one waiting for me. Hope Scalem was good company for you did you sing him some tunes? And I said no no no

It was a long time coming, but we finally got a break in busy schedules to have a fish. How about those threadie killers!! I notice a distinct lack of comment about my deckie and netting abilities, because for a while it seemed aparent that's all I was good for!!

Thanks for the great morning out. When you work with another fisho that knows the ropes it really helps... Except for when I tried to work the advantage and fish two rods and twice had to ask you to trim the motor up because line had found its way around the prop because I left one unattended!! I must apologize again!! Maybe a promise never to do that again might better my chances of another fish with you in the near future

Absolute pleasure Brian! Welcome anytime mate! The '2 rod curse' is what it is known on my boat! That's probably why BEEFAMAN does ok when he's on board because he only uses one... TINN started the curse and now it continues!!

YELLA, Sunday looks like last Thu/Friday would have been - probably slow and hard work...

TINN ole friend, 'I said NO NO NO...' Didn't want to scare Brian on his 1st trip out...

Ohhhh, and before i forget, unlike you TINN, Brian netted all my fish 1st time everytime with the exception of the 1st one as he was getting a feel for my net... Well done Brain!

Great report T1. I expect to see a 5kg+ snap report from you when I get back.

Scalem: Chief also used 2 rods when we were out on Sunday and it was sheer pandamonium. Gotta give it to the big fella tho, he did handle it quite well, even when they were unattended.
Nice stuff boys and keep up the reports.

I heard the report from Scalem before you put your report up T1 but a good read anyhow. Hey if ever there is a time spare I make a reasonable deckie and I only use one rod. I have a couple of weeks holiday coming up next month.

Good to hear you guys get out there after prowling around it for so long - glad you got a few. Brian those TMSK's (Thready killers) arent the be all and end all... but it does help that T fishes them with such confidence... and having said that - I wouldnt be without them.

Might try and catch you out there Weds morn T!!

Better to slip now than the R2M mate! Although i think i did well in the conditions at hand on the day! Only got done once but he hadn't hooked up properly on the hit and by the time i had a chance to set the hook, spit!!! More practice coming up in the morning though... And there's plenty of cold nights between now and then too so plenty of time to fine tune both placcies and bait methods...

I thought that we did well considering we were back in before 9.00am. You will have to keep an aerator and live tank going for the R2M so you can upgrade once you have the bag limit At least that's what will be happening with my rig But the photos are not necessary, I'll vouch for you T, you and your threadie killers!!

Adamy and Tinn, T didn't once offer a tune, so I guess I missed out?? I didn't know, or I would have brought my guitar along!!
