hi there, tryin to catch bream on softplastics not haven much luck. Anyone got some tips or types to try

Gulps, 3 inch Minnow in Pumpkin seed or Watermelon. I get more hits on the drop when the tail of the SP is working. Try casting under pontoons, boats & structures for good results. That works for me when chasing bream!!

ive found the gulp shrimp is good in nuclear chicken,
try the 2" shrimp with a 1/16 head.

cast to snags or edges of weed beds, dont be afraid to let the lure sit still for a while either, just very small twitches

The previous 2 seem to do the same as i do,STOP or PAUSE your lure.I've found this works with both soft plastics and hard bodied lures and what i have noticed is that it not only works 4 bream but also trout in freshwater when trolling.Plastics 4 bream i normally use 2 inche grubs and fish as light as possible.

light flurocarbon leaders 4-6lb vanish are good quality and value.

I'd keep the plastic to between 2-3 inches, jig head to less than 1/12 but more than 1/20 {that may seem too light, but the SP needs to look realistic if you want to catch fish} - hook size between 2 and 1/0 depending on the location.

i dont think the gulp shrimp/minnows in nuclear chicken look particularly realistic,
but i was really surprised when i first started catching fish on them.

so nuclear chicken's a good colour. mmm looking at the piccies in the BCF online catalogue, U might be right with the realistic big, I've been using yabbies for f*knows how long....

So you're pretty much picking up anything with shrimp and minnows?

This is all very new to me, but I'm keen 'cause those frigging yabbies just get nibbled off soooo easy.

So what's the staying power of one of those gulps with your average sized fish that would be inclined to go for it, ie Bream, Whiting, Dart, Flathead. ? compared to a yabbie (this is probably a stupid question as the yabbie comes off so easily, I'm more curious about the gulp being chewed to bits or tail bitten off by an overzealous fish.........

most of the bream i have caught on sp,s have been on storm twiching nippers .all the usaul spots .retreive in short bursts of say a foot then rest for a minute then short burst again .as if it were the real thing .and vanish trace of say 4or 6lb and you should be into some nice fish .

but dont tell anyone - i dont want anyone to know !!!!!

Ive caught a few flathead on all sorts of sp,s but can,t catch them bloody bream

gulp 3" minnow in pumpkinseed or the fluro yellow/white ones, forget what their proper name is.
using either 6 or 8 lb fireline with mono leader .
Got most of mine at wello.. mostly undersize to date, but the bigger suckers must be down there somewhere

i use 3" minows usally pumpkin seed but trying others
use as little wieght as you can get away with due to current to get the sp to go down had success with just a straight hook
fish the shelters area snags pontoons moorings etc
try different ideas caught a big flatty just letting the sp bounce on the bottom with the current
i think be patient try different retriveals and dont worry about what happens

Ive been having a lot of success with the Gulp 2inch shrimps in the new penny colour. Fish them with a light flurocarbon leader, I normally use around 4-6lb.
Jighead weight will depend on where you are fishing. The heaviest I have had to use is 1/8 and have gone down to just a plain jighook with no weight. I usually fish them with a 1/40 hidden weight jighead and just let it sink down slowly. Then just begin a slow retrieve with the occasional twitches.

Some other SPs that you could also try include-

2inch Gulp Shrimp in Newpenny, Natural and Molting colours.
3inch Powerbait bassminnows in pearl watermelon and galaxia green colours
3inch Gulp minnow in pumpkinseed
4inch Gulp Turtleback worm in pumpkinseed, cut down to 3inch
3inch Gulp Fry in pumpkinseed

Thats just a few that should get you going
