Mike..that development started 12 months ago..the first stage of the new 1100 berths has been completed...there will be no more trailer storage..all racks...several new service business buildings are completed and occupied..resort building will be starting soon....must be a slow news week for the journos.

From the picture they show, it doesnt look as thought the marina will get a very good flush with each tide. In time they will probably find it will silt and become quite shallow in parts.

I heard a rumour that they were going to be doing away with the boat ramp altogether. So basically have your boat stored there or dont launch from there.
Anyone know if this is the case? If it is Rudy Maas will be getting a lot of extra business.

I do not think there is going to be a boat ramp.
jackson..where the cafe and office is now will all be water...there will be accomodation on the foreshore..and berths for somewhere around 1100 or more boats...it will take 5 years or more to complete..but the new berths are excellent.

Yep, Greg's got it right from what a dicky bird employee told me..........no ramp 'cause it encourages the riff raff............trailer boat owners are lower middle class and they only want white shoe upper class like Greg

I just wish who ever is building houses on the southern side of Jacobs Well at the moment take more care with their building materials. It was reported some time back about a stack of polysterene (the stuff they lay under slabs to make it cheaper!) being washed up all over the shore line opposite Dinner Island and then a couple of weeks ago there was another package of it washed up there, this time still all taped together and the size of a small car.

    Re: New Marina Development

    Hi
Part of the reply I recieved from Horizon Shores about the boat ramp.

"Dear sir, thank you for your enquiry in relation to the trailer ramp at our facility. At some time in the future this area of the faciilty will need to be closed down to allow for construction. The continuation of this facility in some form is still under discussion at this time. But certainly in the short term public access may be affected by the marina development. If you would like to know exactly what the long term plans for the marina are we have an on site sales and information centre that has a large model and various plans on display relating to the different stages of the development here."

Looks like the writing is on the wall !

I t would appear that there is more money to be made by using the land for rack storage than to have boats and trailers parked in that area.

And who can blame 'em.........sound financial investment.

The day needs to be fast approaching when a fishing licence in Qld is imposed, thereby giving fishos and boaties the right to see that their money is spent on facilities. Without that right, based only on rego and not an a fishing licence, ramp facilities will always be second rate (based on the growing boating fraternity).

Seeing as how they bought the place for 30mill and intending to spend several hundredd mill on the place I guess they might want a return on their money.
