Re: lake borumba
Hi whiting guru,
bring lots of lures especially jackels and squidgies as the bass are probaly down deep at the moment. try fishing the big weed bed that protrudes out into the middle of the dam in the main basin if the skiers arnt causing problems. Fish up in the upper reaches of the arms of the dam like the kingston and if theres enough water try toga bay. If the fish are very shutdown try using shrimps around the weedbeds and timber. Not sure about the water level so be careful.
Good luck

Re: lake borumba
I was up there over easter and the fishing was difficult windy conditions, low silty water. Best results for bass came from live shrimp on floats late afternoon stuff up in the sticks. Also picked up a couplpe of nice yellow belly jigging worms at the start of the timbers.

Re: lake borumba
We were up there friday last week. Got on the water nice and early before the skiers and headed straight to the timber chasing 'toga. Didn't have much luck on top so went to a spinner bait and a deep diving hot'n'tot. Got 3 big bass in 10 mins - biggest 48 to the fork. All in the first timbered bay on the left as you head up the dam. Also got busted off twice around the sticks - 4lb line gotta expect it!!
The steeper banks with close timber seemed to do the trick.
Hope it helps. TWB

Re: lake borumba
Hi Guys,
Fished Borumba yesterday and had a great day. Initially chasing toga, all I could manage were 6 thumper bass in just over a hour.
Caught 2 in the timber against the rock walls on spinnerbaits and 4 on the edges on spinnerbaits and jackals. Smallest went 34cm to the fork. Is it just me or do Borumba Bass go harder than the guys at other dams? They are also in top condition which would help.
Looking for a partner to fish the shootout series up there in Aug, Sep and Oct. Email me if anyone is interested sales@allaquatic.com.au
Cheers,
Matt

Re: lake borumba
Hey Matt.
Will be fishing the Minibuck myself. Got to get the place worked out again. Had it sussed for a little while, before they started pumping the water out. Should be a good comp. You doing the Bream rounds too? I think I may know a guy who might want to fish it. Let me know and I'll find out for you.
Cheers

Re: lake borumba
Hi Billyboy,
I was thinking of doing the Bream rounds but havent really put much time on the water for them the last 12 months or so- have been busy trying to get a few of the Bass dams sussed and hit the comps for them this year. It seems there are a lot more anglers doing the Bream rounds and I am too inconsistent on Bream to fish the comps.
If you or if you know of someone who would be looking for a partner for the Bass rounds, please let me know.
Cheers,
Matt
