Set off at Whyte Island ramp round 4pm, nice sort of SE blowing. Never the less, we headed round to the wall at Pinkenba to fish the run in till 7.20pm.
Dropped the pick and settled back for what we hoped was to be an enjoyable afternoon/evening.
Ole finga kicked off proceedings with a nice stingray, and we thought it was only a matter of time before the catties started biting.
Then I had a few hits, strong bitesbut for the next couple of hours all we brought on board was squire after squire after squire.............. with finga bringing sa couple of bream on board. Yep...................... not one keeper out of what seemed like hundreds. Alot went 30, 31 or so, but none over the magical 35cm mark.
But you know what? We didnt care, we had a ball catching the squire. They hit like freight trains, and it was great fun catching and releasigng them.
Then finga got a solid hit...those magic words we all like to hear zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzz.... is zzzzzzzz one word or several? Anyway I digress. He was only fishing with candy apple line..........I think they call it braid?......... and the fish gave him some stick, taking quite a bit of line off him. whats the call? Finga calls it another stingray, I, hanging out with the net, said like hell it is, its a nice fat cod!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Into the net he goes and a nice fat 45cm cod is on board........ well done scotty..... what was the rod and strength braid? Correct me if wrong but was it a live fibre rod and 4kg raid? My final effort was a small shark.
Anyway, pics below. Short 3 1/2 hr trip but a whole lot of fun was had, and beats working. Great company great arvo.early evening. I was surprised actually at the lack of boats out tonight.
And not a bloody catfish in sight.......... amazing.

I think it was about 8lb braid and the little rod is a 1-4 kg Jimmy Houston special with a 1000 Sienna

The cooks a bit peeved about the lack of catties. I had very clear instructions to bring one or two home....Mmmm catties Yumm
