Cobram Camp Oven Capers and Bush Poetry Day

Short notice I know but I will be demonstrating camp oven cooking using heat beads at the Cobram Camp Oven Capers and Bush Poetry Day this Sunday afternoon at Cobram in Victoria. If you manage to be in the area call in and say hello and sample some of my famour muffins.

The setup in front of my camper trailer. I was running 5 camp ovens. 2 Bedouries, a Hillbilly, an old cast iron and an Aussie Camp Oven.



Not often I do an exhibition without pumpkin fruit muffins. The camp ovens behind me were cooking beef for a formal dinner tonight



Apple cobbler is always appreciated



Roast beef stuffed with smoked oysters and wrapped in bacon always goers down well.

Looks like a fun day out and that there was a good sized crowd. I'll bet the food you made was a hit. It looks delicious! You had five ovens going at once?! I hope you had a chance to eat!


It looks like a nice place. The large tree with the white branches in the background is beautiful. I notice that there is water as well. Did you get a chance to do any fishing? Although, after all that cooking, I doubt you'd have enough energy left.

Had a quick look at Bris31 guide for the week and the 4wd show seems to be missing completely, or I am just going blind.... but we wont go there!

The 'other' 4wd show is there but not the one you cook on.

Is it on a 'programming break', ready for a relaunch?

Series two has finished. They were doing reruns for a while though. The producer is still arranging sponsorship and when that is done we will be filming series three.

No worries at all.... Looking forward to it.

I read in another post that the producers specifically asked for single serve meals on the show. Who ever cooks single serve meals in a camp oven? If you aint cooking for a tribe, then its cooking so you have cold meat for sandwiches the next day.

Love to see some sweet tooth stuff included. Give me a yell if you need any recipes including a dessert which contains 'no frills' vanilla cake mixed, dessicated coconut, tinned apples, butter and wait for it....Sour Cream!
