    Selling yamaha outboard

    Hi Guys

I'm selling an Yamaha 200HP outboard motor and need answers to some questions.
    1. How do I measure the length of the leg
    2. how do I determine the age of the motor (I purchased 2nd hand)

The invoice I bought the motor on says the unit is a 96 model but I just want to make sure that this is the case.

    thanks

Measure from the cav plate to where the bracket mounts the engine to the transom. It will either be 20, 25 or 30 inches.

I recently sold a used 1996 Yammy 200, and the Yamaha plate was also missing for some reason. Yamaha changed to the Salt Water Series in 1997 from memory, (someone will correct me if i'm wrong) so if yours is the Precision Blend model it will be prior to 1997.

Good luck with the sale mate, for interest sake I got $4000 for mine, had 320 odd hours on it.

    Cheers,

    Lee

Go to this link, someone put it on here before. Very good to fine year models. It is German or something but click on modellguide then go to yamaha.
The letter you are looking for is on the right side, buy it's self, on the complience plate. just under and to the right of the model number. mine is a 2002 so it has R. If yours is a 96 it should have X
    leg lenght is already mentioned
