I to decided to spend good friday on the water. Launched at the Clontarf ramp and decided to head up into Hay's inlet because of the wind. When we returned to the ramp, it was like Burke street.
I would like to congratulate all those that were there on waiting their turn and also the gentlefisherman that assited my wife in moving our boat around the rear of others.
Only one comment on your good letter Sgb is that further north the ability to not leave the boat on the ramp deminishes and esp so for a lone boater.
I cannot think of one common ramp up here in the cairns region where a lone boater has any option but to first leave the car and trailer (if a jetty is provided) or to leave the boat on the ramp while they park the car and trailer, no other options available due to crocs, tide size and the ever present bloody mud all conspiring.

fnq,
I wish when they upgraded the rock wall and ramp here at Mission Beach that they had constructed a pontoon also.
Last trip while I was talking to the Racq guy(I locked my keys in the car that morning) my boat drifted off the ramp and I had to go for a swim to retrieve it.
There is a pontoon at Hull heads and if I remember correctly also at Port Hinchinbrook .This would make life so much easier for the solo boater.
