    Floating Line for Bass

Hi all. Chasing a new 8 weight floating line fo Bass. Am addicted to surface strikes now, but the line I have old and a complete mongrel to cast. (or is it my unique casting style lol) Just wondering what is a really good casting line for Dalberg divers and bulky surface flies? Also, would prefer one that is not too bright, more of a natural colour. For fishing at Lake MacDonald and Borumba and maybe Lenthals.

    Cheers

    Bill ,
go the clear monic line , or a rio windcutter in camo green , I use both thos lines over a #7 rod , the windcutter is probaly more suited to turning over bulky flies like Dahlbergs but the monic line is great for laying it over those weedbeds at maccas , just don't overline the rod it will never correct technique
I will show you on Sunday

Just a quick hint, get yourself a double taper, because you can cut it in half (2x 15m lengths) and have two forward tapers for the price of one.

    Pro's:
    1. You can fit more backing to the reel,
    2. You can use it as a shooting line, so that you can cast further,
    3. You have a spare for later or another reel,
    4. I like a forward taper to cast all flies better, especially in windy conditions.

Previous post named a few great lines also, which I have used with good success.

This is my preferance, just food for thought.

    Good luck.

Best choice is RIO Clouser taper. You can buy in hi vis yellow for fresh water, or a tropical which is light bue, and will work anywhere in Qld.Clouser has the taper to turn over Dahlbergs.
