I had a 300 hour service on 90hp etec that cost me $580 but haggled and got it down to $520, sold that engine and got a 115hp etec 6 months ago and only recently had its 300hour service which cost me $530 which i didn't think was too bad on conparison to a four stroke which would cost me in excess of $4000 a year doing the hours i accumilate the etec costs $1000 a year, $3000 is a big difference and a lot of sea miles.
As far as a service for an etec costing that much i think he better get a new mechanic.

Sounds like a crock of sh!t to me!
When I was inquiring about E-Tecs, was told a 300hour service on a 60hp should be around $350-$400. Can't see how they get $1390 just for a service. Ring around some dealers, saying you've got the size motor your looking at and get some prices. Thats what I did. Still, if its around $500 - $600, still cheaper than a 4 stroke every 100hours. The others may have needed parts that aren't usually needed for a 300hour service maybe. If I go E-tec, will be getting a service done just before warranty is up so if there are any hidded problems, they will be covered under warranty.

LMAO - Here we go
Been a while since we had an Etec v 4 stroke thread

Mate dont get me wrong BUT one would want to be very carefull about what they say on a public chat board. I see no problem with naming a business that has done the wrong thing by a other person if and only if it can be proven 100% that the business in question has done what the say they have done. Mate IMO if i was you and i didnt have the facts and was not 100% shaw that it is who you say it is i would remove that post.

Still cheeper to service a 4 - Stroke. Do it yourself.....
check out this thread from another site, last post is from an evinrude service centre.

A 300 hour service on an E-Tech does not cost anywhere near $1390 – more like $500. If he was charged $1390 then he needs to look for a new mechanic.
I have a 90hp E-Tech which was fitted and serviced by Dallas at Leisure Marine.
I doubt there is anyone that knows E-Techs better or done more training courses on E-Techs than Dallas.
I have removed your post naming a dealer in an effort to keep you out of the courts.
You can not make defamatory statements like that unless you are very sure of your facts – in this case you admit you are not.

i never intended to hurt anyone,i was asking a question & i must have been told a heap of lies.sorry to anyone who may have been afended
g'day all
had the 90 etec in for fuel filter recall . Picked it up this morning asked the question on pricing for a 300 hr service and was told approx $ 400 .This was at Leisure marine. I had the motor fitted there about 9 mths ago and have done 50 hrs since and found them willing to help and easy to get along with.

some more facts and there would not be a problem with anything posted here. Nobody said it was all lies, but surely he was paying for more than just a service at that price, would be good if you could find out and let other etec owners know.
Dave.
I have 90 ETEC and asked dealer bout 300hr service, he told me in region of $400, and considering that includes plugs, impellor kit, oil, labour etc. I'm not too upset at that one.
Didnt get to read the original post, just thought worth quoting my dealers price too.
