hi
the top one is a moses perch i have found a spot on the gold coast where there are plagues of them and when they get bigger they do put up a good fight on light gear and they swallow it deep because they suck on the bait before biting
it is not a black spot snapper it is definently a moses all the moses i get in inshore reef have got the sometimes fade or sometimes very bright yellow lines
people shouldnt say "definately" unless they know for sure. however there is nothing wrong with having an opinion. meantime its definately not your every day moses
If you check the contact details on the above site and email the collection manager the photos he will ID it for you. He has helped me out on a few occassions and they may even use your photo on the site if it is one they don't have. They have used three photos I have sent them over the past couple of years.
Here is a little one I caught at Raby bay canals recently (released), which did not have any stripes.
Here are three possibles with pictures of each on the links. See what you think
1. the 'normal' Moses Perch (Lutjanus russelli), which are quite variable in colour and often tend to be a bit paler when caught offshore
Picture on DPI site http://www2.dpi.qld.gov.au/fishguide/15858.html
2. the Black Spot Sea Perch (Lutjanus fulviflamma) also called Black Spot Snapper, which Grant describes as 'golden yellow to greenish, with narrow golden streaks...... the yellow caudal fin (tail fin) has reddish margins...caught in the vicinity of coastal reefs.... grows to 20 inches
Picture on DPI site http://www2.dpi.qld.gov.au/fishguide/15860.html
3. the One-spot Sea Perch (Lutjanus monostigma) .... 'coral reef species, generally yellowish in colour with golden yellow fins...grows to 23 inches.

Being a juvenile fish makes it harder but I still think it's a Moses Perch
