I currently use my tractor to put my boat in the water and the tractor is not registered as it is at a cape where we have no roads.
Does anyone know how [conditional registered vehicles] work and what costs are involved.
Thanks
Troy

Go to the RTA site, in NSW it's $17.00 a year plus plates.
But the vehicle needs an inspection by a authorised centre, That could be hard to do, where you are. But if theres no public what so ever on these tracks...............Well up to you.
Roughasguts,
What i am worried about is as the place becomes more populated and if you hit some one or run into someones boat i would be in serious trouble even though no one else has there tractors registered i do not want to take such a risk anymore.
What got me thinking about this was i took a ride down to our local beach and i noticed this sign [conditional registered vehicles in this area]

Troy,
Go to Queensland Transport & ask or possibly on QT website.
Troy,
It would depend on where exactly this tractor is driven. As in does it travel or cross gazetted roads or driveways?
Condtitional registrations are designed mainly for primary producers who have crops on both sides of roads and have to cross or travel on roads for short distances with combine harvesters, tractors, cane cutters and that other shiny expensive gear. Not sure if a conditional registration is applicable or suitable for your needs.
If you travel on a gazetted road then all vehicles must be registered, if you dont then mayne speak with your insurance company about personal injury insurance which may occur on prite land.
Hope it helps
hey booty , that is not quite right . i know with black butt at gatton which is a off road bike and 4 wd park and the nice guys from Qld trp rocked up and told them that everything had to be conditional rego or full rego and the whole place is private property . in the end the owners called their bluff and are not enforcing it but my point is if troy is on crown land then he maybe in breach of whatever laws this police state lays down , worth checking it out some more i would think .
mark
I will be checking it out as if something goes wrong no matter how carefull you are you could lose everything.

Marco, I didnt see any indication about driving on Crown Land in the initial enquiry?
The crux of the decision would come to the interpretation of 'we have no roads' comment. Based on that, conditional registration would not be applicable as the defnition under TORUMS for a road includes
A road is defined in the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 as follows.
Road (a) includes a busway under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 and
(b) includes an area that is -
(i) open to or used by the public and is developed for, or has as one of its uses, the driving or riding of motor vehicles, whether on payment of a fee or otherwise; or(c) does not include an area declared under a regulation not to be a road.
(ii) dedicated to public use as a road; but
and again my point is that precedence has been set before where queensland transport has ruled that the owners and users of a private property have to have conditional or full registration on the vehicles they use on that property .
Given that , one could assume that whether it is private , crown or main roads property , it is possible conditional rego could apply hence my comment about " worth checking it out some more "
Marco,
Not sure the point you are missing here and Black Butt (Duck??) off road recreation area. Black Duck has been developed for, or has as one of its uses, the driving or riding of motor vehicles, whether on payment of a fee or otherwise. By definition of TORUMS this area is a road or road related area as Pinhead quite rightly pointed out along with shopping centre carparks. And as such your vehicle needs to be registered in some one to be legally driven or ridden in this area.
If your comment about Queensland Transport is correct in they have ruled (incidently, they dont make the rules, neither do the Police) that all vehilcles used on private property have to be registered in some way then I would need to have my ride on mower registered and so would all the other people with mowers, tractors, trail bikes or any other wheeled power vehicle they use on their land.
If you want more clarification on Black Duck, then PM me as I have been there, both for work and play......
