    Re: Double Isl Point changes

Here we go again I sure they are try make it harder for 4wd's owners to go anywhere up there in the future and just pandering to the Greens organizations and getting there votes and again no consultation to the public any representatives from outdoor community's typical of goverment organizations to do this
Thanks for the heads up on this Dave I not a happy camper on this issue
Couldn't agree more in what Gelsec and JB said in their posts

In life, start off wrong and you'll finish wrong. Put just one skeleton in the closet and you'll have to put another one in to hide the first, and so it goes.
But start off right and you'll finish right. There's no comeback when you stick to the truth - and no skeletons!

    Re: Double Isl Point changes

Ill start off by saying I didnt read the whole thread, I dont have time. I do get the jist of it.

    A few suggestions / thoughts though -

Isnt DI point part of Cooloola Shire ? shouldnt they be involved ? AT LEAST Cooloola Shire Council has the balls to stand up and say something even if its unpopular with the hierachy.

Any members who live in Rainbow, TCB or Gympie, perhaps should get onto the media and expose this for all the local public to see.

Plenty of Rainbow Beach, Cooloola Cove, Tin Can Bay & Gympie residents would & do use the LOCAL beaches regularly, these guys will fight hand over fist to STOP this infringement.

Im certain any local will be sick to death of this kind of BS.

Hope I helped in some small way !!!

Lets remember too that its the small minority of scumbags who fuel the Green element and their desire to shut down recreational areas.

    Cheers

Act Now To Protect Your Right To Camp & Drive On Noosa's North Shore & Cooloola Beach

ACT NOW TO PROTECT YOUR RIGHT TO CAMP & DRIVE ON NOOSA’S NORTH SHORE & COOLOOLA BEACHES.
A State government Committee of “selected” people is recommending changes and they will be introduced unless we act. This committee has no representation by fishers, campers, 4wd groups or people whose livelihood depends on beach usage. WHY?
Urge the State Government to listen to the people (mostly families) who use this area for recreation and relaxation.
Do you want to be able to camp and fish without too many restrictions?
Do you SUPPORT another tax ($30 per week-minimum)? A fee is proposed for vehicles to drive on the beach as well as a proposal to more than halve the number of campers? (The present 3000 campers will be reduced to 500 campers most weekends). This will take away the opportunity for family affordable holidays.
Do you support unrealistic speed reductions to 50 kph for the whole beach?
FILL IN THIS POSTCARD AND POST OR DELIVER NOW
    I We ______________ ______________ ________ (Name)
    Of ________________________________________ (No & Street)
    _______________________________ (Suburb and Postcode).
(If you don’t agree with the following clauses delete as you see fit.)
We urge the State Government to take heed of the wishes and needs of
the families who have used this area for over seventy years. is there
ANY evidence that the current system of camping is not sustainable.
The beach has remained fairly constant; aren’t there more brahimi kites,
more pippis, and more vegetation on the frontal coloured dunes?
    1. The closing of the beach (to vehicles) between the first and third
cutting is desirable. Please do it. Is there any reason for closing
the beach to the river mouth? Leave access to the river mouth.
    2. The monies collected from beach driving permits is unfair and
unrealistic and would be lost in collection and policing. It is a
way to stop your desire to use the beach. WHY is it being
    imposed?
    3. RAM is unnecessary and provides nothing for the fee. A fair
alternative is to issue daily beach permits at $2.00 per car, from
a dispensing machine. This would raise in excess of $100,000
p.a.(with no staff) to use n beach irnprovernents(toilets).
    4. We support protecting the environment. We support using porta
potties and need more dump points, and want to continue
    camping.

Re: Act Now To Protect Your Right To Camp & Drive On Noosa's North Shore & Cooloola B

noosa council does not care about anyone but them self, hastings street
and the rich w@$#ers on the hill..it is all about greed here at noosa.
they were suggesting a $30 fee per year for all tourists just to park thier car.
have a look at what they have done to the bar you can walk three quarters of the way across it . then they were saying that rate payers were the only one's
that were going to be entitled to use thier boat on the river..and the list goes on
    and on.....

Re: Act Now To Protect Your Right To Camp & Drive On Noosa's North Shore & Cooloola B

Did anyone see the story on the news last night?????????????

I never caught all of it but businesses and alike are all up in arms about the proposal.

Nugget,, any chance of getting a copy of the full proposal and posting it here.
I think our concerns should be bassed on the facts and without the full or accurate info we cannot fully understand what the changes will be.

I think if we all are well informed then we can air our views and possibly have some input into this.

We all go off at the drop of a hat when we here about change ( and I do the same) but perhaps the content of the proposal holds some key facts that would or could benefit everyone.

I would like to investigate this further, as I think others would and then put forward my exact view.

Re: Act Now To Protect Your Right To Camp & Drive On Noosa's North Shore & Cooloola B

I agree with some of what has been said, but not all of it. If the councils are going to impose resitrictions/fees for beach access then they MUST show they are willing to proactively aid in the conservation/maintenance of the area. Why aren't there more toilets/facilities in the area? Haven't they been recieving the tax dollars from the money spent in the town by the very same tourists using the beach?

I agree that a restriction in numbers MAY be a good thing, I don't have all the facts so can't say with certainty, wouldn't it be nice if the powers that be were that smart?? LOL I do agree with a speed tlimit on the beach of 50-60km/h. It is too dangerous to travel at more than that when you are driving through a kids playground. That is exactly what it is!! You are driving on a beach that is used for swiming, fishing, playing (&what about night time activities for mummy & daddy???). Also, at any higher speed the chances of rolling if you need to take evasive action are HUGE!! It just isn't safe to travel faster than that on sand. And yes, I love my sand driving.

Re: Act Now To Protect Your Right To Camp & Drive On Noosa's North Shore & Cooloola B

The beach is too busy and too full of wankers especially during the holidays. Take a look at the stories on overlander, exploroz etc about what went on over easter.
It needs to be regulated more. I am happy with a beach driving permit even if it is $30 per week (it costs me $60+ in fuel to get there and back from brissie anyway). I'm also more than happy if they further regulate the camping areas. I don't camp there any more due to the number of reports about terrible hygiene, but I'd like to camp there again one day. If they don't regulate it more they'll probably just close it down (the camping).
I'm happy for a 60kph speed limit too. There's no need to use the beach as highway from Tewantin to Rainbow. If you are in a hurry, take the bitumen.

Without getting anyone offside, but I don't understand why the moderators have moved this posting onto the camping section from the general fishing area..
Maybe I am just mentally challenged!!!
It does not only involve camping, but also 4 wheel driving and general fishing.
Could we get this posting moved back onto the general fishing area where more Ausfishers will see it.
    Thanks,
    Graham.

Re: Act Now To Protect Your Right To Camp & Drive On Noosa's North Shore & Cooloola B

I think its a fantastic idea, ive slowly watched this place go down hill, the camping areas along the beach that used to be white are covered in mixed black burnt timber, from so many fires lit all over the place, unfortunately the minority have recked it for the rest of us again, every holidays the beach turns into a race track for idiots, what council should do is sit down the beach with a radar gun and every time they catch some won speeding smack them in the head.I always slow down to idle when ever i go past kids on the beach and that place is the only place that when i slow down some idiot raws past me.

Re: Act Now To Protect Your Right To Camp & Drive On Noosa's North Shore & Cooloola B

the sunday mail (front page) last week pretty well summed up why some restrictions on camping numbers need to be in place at Inksip Pt and Teewah......
