Thread: 680SF Half Pod vs Full Pod?

  1. #1

Question 680SF Half Pod vs Full Pod?

When did the Haines Hunter 680SF change to a full pod? I have been looking at them and noticed that the earlier ones only have a half pod and the later ones have the bottom of the hull extended to make the full pod. I just want to make sure I know when this changed over. Thanks.

Also any comments on the half vs the full pod? I am thinking the extra bouyancy and waterline length should make a difference, but how MUCH of a difference?

rat catcher changed pods when hanies went to call it 680 encore. if you fill the pod in on the old older boats make water line about 7.2mts,andrew.

Thanks for this, but isn't the pod on the older hull only a smaller pod beamwise? i.e. It doesn't go all the way from side to side?

So I understand you could full in the bottom of the pod down to the bottom of the hull, but it still isn't the same as the newer hull right?

yes it is a small fill in,but in measuring water length the new boats are 6.8 as the old ones measure 6.8 to start of pod ie bottom of boat,so filling in small part of pod gives the boat another .4 in length.when l fill in my pod it lifted the boat another 50mm at rest with the extra bouyancy.(measuring boat lengths change from boat builder to boat builder all measure from different spots on boats).
