Thread: Haines V19R

    Re: Haines V19R

Well if we are only referring to "ordinary" boats (mono hulls) then yeah the V19 was good in its days but hey people that was more than 35 years ago and times they have changed, der.

This legend thing (crap) with a couple of antique Haines is starting to become a bit over done, in fact way way over done.

The V19 was a capable boat but then so was a few others and quite frankly there was a few others at the time that would cream a V19 and some of these were in fact some of the 20 degree Hartley's and woo behold some of these were even made of ply !!!! Shock horror some will say !!!!! But hey this isn't speculation this actually happenened, some of us were actually there at the time

In fact one of the best performing hulls of that era was a guy buiding hartley's in alloy and building in alloy as one would built in ply, built on frames, alloy stripped planked and all. Doubt if anybody would have the experience these days to produce similar results these days?

Really these days some people are showing a very narrow minded and limited background with some of the older style hulls. It's about time this so called legend crap was put to rest, times have changed.

    Regards, Kerry.

I think the 6.4m savage marlin was/is a better hull.

Troy my old Mate ... I thought you were dead

I thought the old Bruisecraft would have rattled you to pieces by now.

I, on the other hand, am full of youthful exuberance after many enjoyable hours in the Cat

Might be showing my age and inexperience here but we used to refer to the Haines as the poor mans Seafarer!

    Re: Haines V19R

It's a wonder somebody hasn't made a legend of the 213? lot better boat than the V19 Legends might require moulds? But has anybody ever seen the product out of a worn 35 year mould, nah a lot of marketing hype

I might be shooting myself in the foot for not quite knowing the history of v19 but it would be hard to beat any Eden Craft of equal size to the Haines...or have people forgot about Jenks craft.....been for a ride in a 23 footer...bloody awesome machines ...shame you dont see many of them about anymore...

    Re: Haines V19R

The Jenks 23 Was Actually The Old Mustang 24 With A Different Deck.norm Jenks Is A Friend Of My Familys,he Still Has The Moulds For Them And His 29 ,in A Shed On The Gold Coast.there Is No Relation To A Haines.and Yes Bass Straight Are A Flop Of The #########.greg Used To Build #########,had A Split With His Partner And Statred Bass Straight Boats.
And Kerry They Are Still As Straight And Shiny As They Were 35 Years Ago!

    Re: Haines V19R

Opti..tell Norm to get the moulds out...i would rate them just behind a Noosa Cat for ride....been in both and they are just unbelivable....

As for Bass Straight Boats...well the one owned here is a commercial fish farm travel boat...think it was purchased in 1999 ....still running strong and no problems with it so far...and it does get a hell of a flogging .????

    Re: Haines V19R

Well maybe my reasons are different. I own a V19R, have had many boats before 21 foot cruise craft, 5.8 m stingray, hydro hicker etc. Having a wife and 7 kids the old haines does me well. I would love to have something new but the budget does not allow. We fish out of home brisbane and holiday every year at hervey bay. I can fit the hole family in to fish. I fish outside of moreton and off mooloolabah without the family and this boat always gets me there and home. The whole package owes me undre 20k and at least the are still around in good condition. Here's a pic if i can add it.
